  • New Ratco TR6 Frame

    Hi All,
    Has anyone spotted the new Frame from the RAT-CO gang? They’ve made some adjustments and used 2x3 tubing. They say it creates more space for different drive trains and exhaust installation. Would be interesting to understand how the strength and weight of the structure has changed. That’s said, their frames are premium products so whilst a slight departure from the norm, I’m sure it will be superb.

    My friend was there picking up a frame for his 250 project while the new frame was under development. He thinks it will as good as the original frame, maybe a bit better as it will be lighter. Both he and I have RATCO frames under our TR6's, and the additional stiffness is immediately noticable. I've had mine in place for 3 years, and have taken several road trips with it. Simply put, the car is amazing with a RATCO frame. I wouldn't hesitate to get the new design. Tony Vigliotti knows what he is doing.

      Thats good to hear Tony is still making frames. I loved mine. You could jack up one corner and the whole side would lift up. There was just a tiny bit of flex but overall I agree it made the car solid feeling.

        Hi,
        This is my first post. I am working with Tony at RATCO. Thanks to all for the kind words about RATCO and our products. After a bit over a year of working at Tony's elbow and learning the products, we have opened a new 3000 sqft production facility on Long Island which I am running. This will free Tony up for some new development products he has been wanting to get to, but has not been able to find the time. As someone else mentioned, the new 2x3 rectangular tubing design is working out great, and we are in the process of updating the TR3-4 designs to use the same tubing. Rest assured the new frames will meet or exceed your expectations. Below is a note from Tony, talking about the changes at RATCO, and the new things to come. If you haven't visited our website in a while, I encourage you to do so, www.rat-co.com

        NEWS FLASH – Spring 2019
        Big changes at RATCO. Over the last several years our lead time has grown due to a high demand for our products. In an effort to address this issue we have opened a second, larger production facility. I would also like to announce that Bob Waldeck has joined our team as production manager of the new facility. Bob comes to us with an extensive Engineering background, and has spent the last year working with me to learn the intricacies of building our products. I will continue to be involved in development and quality control. Over the next few months you will see some interesting changes;

        Lead Time
        The new production facility allows us to significantly increase our capacity to meet demand. Our goal is to keep the leadtime in the 6-8 week range, which will of course be effected by the4 demand at the time of your order. Please contact us for current lead times.

        New Designs
        The new production facility will provide me with more time to develop some new products I have been thinking about. First is a replacement Swing Arm. This new design will be made of tubular Steel rather than aluminum, and should be stronger and lighter than the original. It will also provide the ability to adjust toe-in and camber on the rear wheels. This should be a great product as the originals are becoming more difficult to source.

        We recently completed a re-design of our TR6 frame. Our original approach was to use 3x3 11ga steel tubing. We have changed the tubing to 2x3 11ga tubing. This provides us with several advantages; reduced weight, additional space down the center section for exhaust plumbing, more cost effective, and streamlines the production process reducing lead time.

        Cost
        RATCO has not changed our prices in many years. Although we would prefer not to we were forced to increase our prices as of September 1 of this year. The TR6 redesign has helped minimize the increase, but many of our costs have increased. As always, we have the best terms in the industry; no deposit required until we start the build, and cancellation at any time. These terms allow you to lock in your price and delivery with zero risk should you change your mind.

        New Products
        We have started a line of Garage Art which consists of steel cutouts of silhouettes of various Triumph Models, Logos as well as Front Views of the various models. New art is being added all the time so please check back frequently for updates.
