Was watching the latest show where Mike buys a "Cileeka" and reminded my of how I got here.
In 1972, I bought a brand new Toyota Corona, metallic blue with a white vinyl top. Looked like a mini Chevy Malibu.
It had the same lump, the 18R-C, that the Celica had. In the 3 years I had it, I had to do 3 valve jobs. I've only done 3 valve jobs on the TR in 44 years!
So I was not surprised to see Ant do compression and leak down tests on the motor because of lack of power.
Long story short, I was out shopping for waterbeds with my GF of the time, stopped by the British Leyland dealership we happened to pass by, and on a whim, traded the Toyota for the TR!

The Jenson was nice, in JPS livery, but I'm not sure I would still have it to this day, like I do the TR.

I bought a new Capri in 1972, V6 and a 4 speed. I sold it in 74 to buy my TR6. And, to go full circle, I have a Celica W58 in the TR6. Back in the day, we used to refer to Celicas as SillyCars.
