  • Tough day...

Barb and I made the really tough decision today to put down one of our long time friends. Baloo the Moose Poodle is with us no more. He had a great life and brought is lots of joy in the 8+ years that we had him after rescuing him from a barn in Iowa. Age, a failing heart and some form of cancer all caught up with him

    Rest in Peace Baloo.

My condolences. It's never easy, even if it's for the best.
        I'm really not that interesting...

So sorry to hear that Phil & Barb. He was a good dog. Both Dee and I enjoyed our brief time with him and I'm sure you'll have lots of fond memories.
It's not an easy thing to do, but we're thinking of you guys.

Always sad to hear when this happens. Been through it multiple times, and it never gets easier. My condolences - and the best solution for the sadness is to rescue another dog that is unloved and unwanted, and bring yourselves and the new dog joy and comfort.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts. Losing a pet is hard but we got so much joy from him while he was with us, We wouldn't trade that for anything in the world.

We were, until yesterday, a 2 dog family so we still have the second dog to help us through this. I think she's a bit distraught herself but its good to have her there.

Baloo is in a better place. He was larger than life in many ways. Biggest standard poodle I've ever laid eyes on. It was tough to see him go from the big, strong and proud dog that he was in his youth to struggling just to stand up.

In the last few weeks you could see in his eyes that he was saying "Really? WTF, how the hell did this happen????"

I am sorry to read about Baloo's passing. Like you, I'm an animal person and lime where you stand today, I too have stood. It's really hard as out pets are part of the family .

Baloo had a great life I'm sure and you are a better person .for having him in your life.
