  • Tub Suspension

I haven't been able to work on the 250 much lately with work and life getting in the way, but today was "rigging day" for the tub suspension. My plan is to suspend it from the ceiling while working on the frame below.
I used 1/2" all-thread rod and the load is spread over 4-2 x 12 floor joists above. For those of you who remember the "LBC Cathedral" thread, there is a full storage room above the bays so access was easy.
Next weekend I will separate the tub from the frame and suspend it.

    Cheers,

    Wolf

Ingenious. Should work fine. The bare tub isn't all that heavy.

Looks like it might block some of your lighting.

For just a little more, you can do it yourself!

Work? I thought you were retiring in April. Time to coast, man.

I was wondering how the 250 was coming along and it looks like the fun is really about to start. Good luck my friend and keep the posts coming.

Wont need to. The door clears the frame by about an inch and will fit right between the tub and frame when in the open position.

          Cheers,

I thought you were hanging the tub from the wood frame to free up the lift, no?

Yes, Lou. That frees up the lift and will allow me to use the lift to hold the frame for rotisserie attachment. Then, when the frame is complete, I'll use the lift again to lower the tub for it's turn on the rotisserie.

                Cheers,

                Kevin

Well, then you must have come up with an ingenious way to hang it so that door can fit between the tub and the wood.

Yup, I'll be using long 3000# straps

Though this divorce is temporary, the tub is now happily hanging from the rafters and waiting patiently for me to work on the frame. I counted 29 bolts that held the two together. Now the fun really starts.
My plan is to have the frame powder coated as it is very sound with no rust. I will be reinforcing it in certain areas though.

                      Cheers.
