This post is for those of you who also have this type of limited slip differential. I have about 20,000 miles on it since installing it some years back. Lately, I feel and hear a sound that could be trouble. Like the drive train is catching and releasing, a bump-bump sound when decelerating from about 30 mph down to stop. If I put the gearbox in neutral, or disengage the clutch, this sensation stops. It's there only when the rear wheels are driving the engine, as in overrun.
With the rear wheels off the ground, there is noticeable play in the diff when rotating either wheel back and forth. I can almost duplicate this clashing, bumping noise this way, just as if the car was on the road as described above. My question is: Has anyone of you had anything that duplicates this, and what, if anything, was done to correct it?
    Thanks!

Dick, I had almost the exact same thing happen to a LSD diff in my work truck, a 2500 Chevy....I had the fluid changed in it, problem gone and has not reappeared. Two years or 14K ago. On the other hand, my 6 has a R200 from a Q45, I haven't had any trouble with it….even the "rear-end clunk" is still gone. Not much help here, but a fluid change fixed the truck....clutches slipping??...Good luck sir.

Thanks, Jim. I'll keep the fluid change in mind as an option, even tho there's only about 25,000 miles since all new fluid was put in during the install. Valvoline GL4, the same as in the W-58.
A friend that has a lift and a tall hydraulic jack on a long post is my next stop. He suspects a loose mount somewhere in the drive train. I couldn't find it when only the rear end was lifted and using pry bars everywhere revealed nothing suspicious.
