    Clutch pedal adjustment question

    Hello everyone,
    Just picked up my first TR6. Elbow deep now learning.

    So... I've got to press my clutch pedal all the way to the floor in order to disengage it and shift. And I mean all the way. Against the firewall. Is that normal for these vehicles, or is it out of adjustment.

    On a related note I've noticed that if I'm cruising along in 3rd and not on the gas - for example, coasting down a long hill - the vehicle will often pop out of gear. Only happened so far in 3rd gear. What could be the issue?

    Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!

    Thank you everyone for the responses. It's actually a bit of a relief to hear none of these things are new and not particular just to the vehicle I've got. I definitely can live with the situation. And in the offseason during the winter I'll start to pull things apart and do whatever repairs are necessary. But it is great to know that my situation is not unique. I have been looking a little bit for a local Club. I live in the western mountains of North Carolina and I have never seen another TR6 out here on the road. If you have any recommendations I'm all ears. I have done an internet search for North Carolina clubs and come up with a few options but most seem local to central NC. Not a lot happening out in my mountains!

    While I won’t deny your long throw slave saved the day, I believe it’s masking another issue.

    The system is designed to automatically take up “slack” if you will. There are other things that could be troublesome such as the fork pin and the condition of the thrust washers

    If the OP can’t live w the gearbox popping out of gear, might make sense to pull the gearbox and do all the “while you’re in there” type stuff.

    Might make sense to find a local LBC club or better still TR club

    I have had all the clutch problems anyone could ever think of. Not releasing all the way when pushing my foot through the floor was one.
    Found his slave cylinder at British Parts Northwest and it has solved all my problems. Clutch Slave Cylinder Long Throw TR6

    Part number: UKC8677L

    Never thought anything could make such a difference. Not grinding gears shifting now.

    Congratulations on the TR6 Tony!!

    There really isn’t any adjustment in this hydraulic system. Couple things you can do. Bleed the clutch hydraulics. Make sure the clevis pin in the clutch pedal doesn’t have a giant groove in it. Check the push rod in the slave. Push rod hole could be ovalled. Again the clevis pin.

    If you can...measure the distance the cross shaft moves when pushing the clutch pedal. You’ll need a helper and ensure the car is safely up on stands

    the 3rd Gear popping out isn’t new. You can try to adjust the detent in the top cover. Otherwise hold the gearshift. I think the gearbox usually needs attention when it starts doing that. Might wanna wait until the off season to worry about that. That is IF you have an off season
