does tube from rear of water pump to rear of engine require intake and exhaust manifolds removal to install?

I just faced this dilemma after assembling the manifolds but before putting on the water pump on a recent rebuild. I found it easier to take off the manifolds and mount up the pump and the tube. I pulled the pipe off even and still found it easier to just pull off the manifolds to make sure that the pipe joined properly to the water pump. I'm not saying it can't be done but for my situation, taking off the eight or so nuts holding the manifolds on was simpler. YMMV

Yeah you may find it’s length of the pipe difficult to manage with the manifolds in place. Sometimes the pipe is a little long and needs to be cut

The factory tubes have a bulb at the end opposite the water pump which helps the hose grip it. Stainless ones I've seen lack these, but you can solder on a thin copper band made from 1/2 copper tubing. Pretty bad deal to have this pop off going down the road.
