  • Rimmer SS Dual Exhaust

Hi - has anyone purchased the following mufflers from Rimmer? I talked with Rimmer and they did not know who makes these (said they are in an unmarked box). The look very similar in size/shape to the Bell exhaust. They have a pretty good deal on them right now (all 4 pipes and 2 mufflers for 360 shipped to AZ).

They did confirm the other SS mufflers listed are made by Phoenix (note part number is the same; just with a P for Phoenix apparently)

I don't have any experience with the Rimmer exhaust, but I do know the Bell system is made in England. I bought mine from Engel Imports in Kalamazoo Mi. The 360 is a good price...I paid $500 + 50 for a fitting kit. Attached is a photo of the Bell mufflers just out of the box.

I bought the TH 73 mufflers when they were on sale..that's all I needed.
When I asked about the actual difference from TH73P, I was told it was the "big bore's " tail pipe's larger diameter.

I purchased the dual stainless system from Rimmer and have installed it, but still in the restoration stage and have not run the engine yet.
i am very pleased with the quality! They have several 15% off sales during the year and last year had one in the beginning of July.

Thanks Tripp....those definitely look different so the less expensive Rimmer ones probably aren't Bell.

Thanks Ken. All of the drawings show both the TH73 and TH73P using the same intermediate pipes. Would lead me to believe the big bore part was only on the internals or outlets of the muffler. Pretty big difference in cost just for some larger diameter pipes (about 50/muffler). I can see on your picture that the part number is clearly the TH73 and it has the same design (2 mould indents on the muffler which the 73P doesn't have).

Know I've seen that you're happy with the exhaust...any chance you have a sound clip somewhere that I've missed? I'm wanting something that has a nice sound to it, but not Monza loud.

I have 3 friends with the Phoenix systems from Rimmer. I think their cars sound great. 2 of them have the duals, 1 of them has the single. They all sound excellent to my ear.

They also went on sale at 10% off today. There will probably be another 15% off very shortly, but some times a bird in the hand - - - -
