  • Key Buzzer wire

Hello all, Well while under the dash working on some OD wire issues, I managed to pull the wire that activates the key buzzer from ? I believe it's a G/red or orange tracer maybe even black, as soon as I ground it the buzzer sounds, was wondering if someone could tell me where this should be attached to, I'm thinking on the ignition switch somewhere, thanks, John Mack

It's a black/green wire that connects to the ignition switch lock Assy. The other end connects to the buzzer on the 70 - 73 models. On the 74 - 76 models the other end connects to another black/green wire from the LH door switch. The door switch also has black/orange wire to the seatbelt module that will ground and sound the buzzer when both the key and door switches are closed.

The keylocks might be a little different, but on the 70 model, the black/green wire attaches to an insulated contact plate that is grounded when the key is inserted.

Yes, on the 70 - 72 models, one of the contacts of the double or 2 pole door switch provides power to the buzzer and key illumination lamp via the purple/orange wire when the door is open. The buzzer will sound when both the door switch and key switch are closed (door open and key inserted).
