  • Gas assist bonnet and boot lift kits from LBCarCo?

Hey guys! I hope everyone is well out here on the forum. It's been a long time since I was here and I have a question. Has anyone tried the gas cylinder lift kits from LBCarCo yet? I definitely would like them for the trunk or boot, but the hood or bonnet sounds good as well. Thanks in advance as always!!

I can't get the link to work directly but it's under "This Weeks Specials" once you click on the main page below:
Little British Car Company, Ltd. is a supplier of quality classic British (and other) car parts and accessories. We always strive to have excellent customer service and reasonable prices.

Hi Paul. It been a while!

Yes, I’ve tried them. In fact, I notice that’s my car in LBC Co’s pictures - though I sourced mine from Clark & Clark, who developed the kits. They work very well indeed.

Let me know if you have any questions.

      Hi Paul,

They are probably the same kit sold by Clark and Clark.

I’ve bought a set but haven’t installed them yet. A few others have installed them including Keith (Brit in Bama).

Thanks very much. I read the article and ordered both kits. Once again, 6-Pack is the place to go for the advice that you need. Glad to see that nothing has changed in that respect. Actually $20 cheaper to go through LBCarCo than Clark, so that will help cover the shipping.

My only concern is to drill holes in the inner fender or right trunk bracket.....No, no for me. I asked Clark if he could think of holding the bracket by a fender bolt instead.....He replied that depending on the demand, he would look at this but never did......

Mine came in over the weekend. I'll probably install them this coming weekend as the weather doesn't look to great. I have no problem drilling a few holes to make life easier because I'll never win any concours awards anyhow.

I’ll be doing the same Paul on my TR250 project...not the purchased kit as it won’t work for a 250 apparently, but I am going to cobble some stuff together

                Cheers

Really? I could have sworn I read over the the Triumph Experience site that the same kit would work on a 250 or 4 and even be easier to install.

No, apparently not Bruce. I did buy the TR6 kit to find it wouldn’t work on the 250. So, eventually it will go on the 6. Darryl Walker tried to adapt them to his TR4A and ended up having to go with shorter struts and a customized hinge bracket.

Tush, you will drill holes on your 6 inner fenders...?

Probably not Robert. I still haven’t installed my Ratco throttle cable kit that I’ve had for about 8 years because I’d have to drill a hole...my 250 is another story 😎

                        Cheers

There's certainly a way to attach those struts to a bracket, fixed at/with the closest fender bolts, or find longer struts.....

                        Hi Robert,

I might have a look in the Spring to see if I can fabricate something to utilize one of the factory fastener locations.

                        Cheers

That would be great my friend....! It is certainly something I always wanted to install....and I believe this is the closest to a working system.

Wolf, I was told that one strut for the trunk would be enough......Do you agree with that....? Avoiding holes on right side.....

Man, that is slick! I was just gong to do the bonnet struts, but after watching that, I'm doing the boot too! Thanks for the video.
