  • Help With Trunk Latch

Howdy gents. Been MIA for a while as health issues, Foster children, motorcycle and a house move have taken up life. Getting back into the 6 again. I have an issue where I had placed my car cover in the trunk to store it at my inlaws while we moved. Apparently the cover got caught in the latch. I cannot push in the button to open the trunk.

I tried to wedge a plastic body putty knife in between the deck lid and back panel but to no avail. Any suggestions before I beat myself up trying to get it open?

Sounds like it locked itself. Try a locksmith

Try to first push down on the trunk lid in the latch area, while pushing in the opening button. If that doesn't work, go the opposite way. Try wedging something in between the lip of the trunk and the back panel while again pushing in the button. Good luck...

        You sure it’s not locked?

I'll try those suggestions tomorrow. Thanks. I doubt it's locked because it's never locked since the day I bought it. Not even sure I have a key for the lock.

When the trunk is locked the opening for the key looks sorta like a 6. When it's locked, just the opposite like a 9. Sorta...

Dick, I think you meant to say, “When the trunk is unlocked the opening for the key looks sorta like a 6.”

It looks like a 6' It's unlocked I'm 99.9% sure. I used to be able to push the button and feel it click/thunk, now I get resistance when pushing.
