  • Soft top cover

i have a question about the cover that goes over the soft top when the top is down.
When we did the resto, we changed the interior color from the factory black to light tan (Moss honey tan), my research says that light tan interiors were available up to early ‘70. Mine is April ‘70 so maybe it’s correct. Whatever, we like it. The problem is that Moss no longer sells these covers in any color other than black. I’ve never seen a cover that wasn’t the same color as the interior.
So, first, any opinions about how a black cover would look? The soft top is black and almost always stowed, one of the advantages of living in Southern California.
Second any idea where I might find a light tan cover? I’ve looked at other sources and all I can find are beige and “bisque” colors which are close but don’t match and thus I think would look wrong.
    Thanks.

Lou, is Bobby still in business? I haven’t seen him around these parts in a while.

I have a beige cover for my car, but after 30+ years it looked terrible.

I used vinyl paint from Vicky British to paint mine this past spring. Really happy with the results. Pretty good color match and wear resistance so far (mine is on and off a lot).

I think so but like a lot of folks from the old site, I suspect he’s not comfortable with the new site. You can reach him via email, look for the link at the bottom of his site http://tr6.danielsonfamily.org/

My 74.5 is Pimento with custom tan leather interior. My hood is Robbins tan from Moss with a custom vinyl hood-cover to match my interior. Before the redo, I had a black hood with a black cover. I've got before and after pics of all of this but the sizes are too large and I could not upload... I found via Google a way to reduce the sizes, but am apprehensive about downloading unknown software. I really like the look of the tan with Pimento. My car will never win a concour de elegance or a VTR judging, but I enjoy it!

A lot of people here use this link to resize pictures.

And if you are doing many pictures at once I use this.

On the TR Register (UK) website, folks think very highly of John Skinner. And, the Skinner website is well-developed with lots of photos. They are experienced & responsive to inquiries.

I'm alive and well and busy as ever..... I do find the new site very frustrating and annoying to navigate.... As to the boot cover problem.... I make my padded boot cover in whatever color you want at $150 PLUS the cost of the vinyl. If anyone needs something, they can PM me here or email me from my site http://tr6.danielsonfamily.org/

Just curious..... what does Skinner get for a boot cover? I couldn't find any pricing on his site.

Glad to see you’re still around and kicking. I agree this site is frustrating at times but you get used to it.
Skinner quoted me £137 which works out to about $175 plus shipping.
