  • 2020 TRials - Pit Road is OPEN

By all accounts, the "Meet me in St Louis, Louie" was a great success. Congrats to all the hosts (Kevin et al)!

So....getting a jump on 2020 in Richmond, VA, just a hop, skip and a yodel from me (about an hour to my east)...

The Dude Ranch, located about 20 miles south of Charlottesville, VA (yeah, THAT C'ville) is open and available to anyone who needs a place to sleep/camp, wrench, party and/or just relax before or after the actual TRials event(s).

I offer plenty of room to park, to meet up with folks flying in/out, and access to a garage full of tools in case you need repairs. Heck, I've even got hot/cold running water in case you want to wash your cars (or yourselves). I've also got room to sleep folks in beds, more if you don't mind the floor (queen sized air mattress!)...and 10 acres to pitch a tent. There's also a fire pit in case it's cold for those brave enough to camp out (I haven't seen a snake in, like, I dunno, years). Oh, yeah...I've got indoor plumbing and a gas grill.

With some notice, I can probably fetch/return folks from the Charlottesville airport (CHO), if that helps (Pro Tip: flying in/out of Richmond is probably way, way cheaper).

Skyline Drive is within striking distance and there are plenty of boutique breweries accessible by back roads (this is a great driving area). Heck, we've even got a brewery in town (Scottsville, VA), although you might want to avoid the craft brews with ABVs in excess of 11%).

    Additional Notes:

    Open 24/7.
    No reservations required.
No dress code (well, other than pants).
Free used oil disposal (a $12.43 value!).
    BYOB (and chow).
FREE Parking (not on top of the septic tank, s'il vous plait).
Licensed medical person on site (just an EMT; I can hold your hand and share our feelings until someone qualified arrives!).

Anyway, if I can be of any assistance to the traveling folks, please don't hesitate to let me know.

    Be safe....

That's one hellofa offer, Tad. Might just take you up on it. However, I was looking forward to parking over the septic tank, Oh well.
Dee and I will be signing up as soon as the registration forms come out. Sorry you couldn't make it to St. Louis, I think a good time was had by all.

ID:	527279 Yes, Chef. There are steaks on the hoof...bring your boning knives in case one breaks through a fence. I'll rig up a spit (and take care of the bovine "dispatch" needs).

BTW, there are at least two decent auto repair shops that deal with British cars in Richmond, and of course the Moss mega-warehouse is a half hour south of downtown, and they have a retail parts counter.
